Thank you :)

Hello Everyone! It was such a surprise I received! I am so proud of myself and everyone else for all we accomplished! I just looked at the pictures, we are all so beautiful!

This was such a life changing event for me. I am in pause unfortunately for a few days I got sick from my kids :( :( Thank god it wasn't until after the challenge. But I am looking forward to getting back to the gym and continue this journey.

I have been scouring the cookbooks and can't wait to try out the recipes!

I would also love to volunteer and help out next year. This is such a wonderful program and needs to be continued!

Hope everyone is doing well. We should keep in contact and get together some time.

Well I am off to rest :(

Take Care!

A Fresh Start, to be continued

Well, Ladies, in just hours you'll be the Guests of (well deserved) Honor at the Go Red Luncheon - I haven't been to the Clyde yet, and can't think of a happier occasion to see it for the first time.

My daughter and I just got back from Boston, and I KNOW I gained a few pounds with all the eating out...but that's okay. I know that a return to smarter eating and some extra effort at moving around will take care of that.

I'm so very happy for you all and can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!

Go Red Luncheon

The committee was busy this afternoon setting up for the luncheon tomorrow.  We have lots of great baskets and donations for the silent auction.
Don't be nervous about tomorrow.  You all did a great job and I'm sure everyone will admire your accomplishments.
I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.  You will have a great time, getting your hair and makeup done and meeting lots of wonderful people.
This blog will still be available if you want to use it  to stay in touch with each other.
I hope it's not to cold tomorrow.
Chris and Molly, I'm so jealous that you both went on such nice vacations, this time of year it's so nice to go to someplace warm.
I wish you all the best.

Linda

Plan for future to keep moving :)

That is wonderful Molly :)

My plan is to at least be at the gym for 1 hour of intense workout at least 3 times a week. With summer coming hopefully soon. I am going to take my kids on more walks and bike rides. With the training during this challenge I should be really good at bike rides now :) Thanks Mike!
As for next winter I will have to wait and see when I get there, hopefully just up the gym visits or more winter activities outside.

I am going to stay as busy I can outside more with our puppy, and start taking the kids more places now that I have my fibro more under control this summer. That right there will help me keep on track and active.

As for the healthy diet. I plan on keep moving along, I should take your example Molly and subscribe to something to keep different healthy ideas coming. For now though I am just going to keep watching HGTV and modify recipes to healthier versions and hope it goes well with my kids :) I just modified my chili recipe to even healthier, you can tell it is really low to no sodium, but it is pretty good, and the kids like it! :) I even modified my Great Grandma's refrigerator dough buns to healthier and they still turned out good as well ;)

What about everyone else? What are your plans?

1 more day.

Are we ready yet? Only 1 day until the luncheon.
I was on vacation last week and wasn't able to blog, but it is nice to catch up and see all pf the progress that everyone has made. Great work ladies!! I am so proud of our group!
While in FL, I walked a ton every day. I was up to take pictures at sunrise and again at sunset every day we were there! I am tired, but wanted to take in every moment. The food was amazing. Fresh seafood~ light and savory... But very few veggies, unless I ordered a side salad. The drinks were fruity and carb-alicious, and freely flowing.
I gained 2 lbs on vacation. bummer. I always feel puffy and bloated after a day of travel so hopefully it comes off easily.

I am interested to hear everyone's plans to stay on track after Wednesday. What will we do without our professional support people reminding us of our goals and pushing us to work harder??

  • I really enjoy classes at the gym. I do better with a group (and routine), and plan to attend the same classes at the same times every week.
  • With a subscription to a healthy cooking magazine, I will be able to keep meals interesting and heart healthy at home.
  • We are buying bikes, so my family has more ways to stay active together.
I hope we can continue to stay in contact with each other and support each other in the future. I am thankful for all of you. GOOD LUCK!

Molly

Nervous and Proud!

Hello everyone,
I just got done reading the script, YEAH! For us all! We all did so good :) We should be so proud! I know I am. I blew past my goals which I never dreamed possible.

I am so very nervous for Wednesday. I have decided to wear the black dress I bought, to bad it is supposed to be the coldest day this week, burrrr.
I am bringing my mom as support. She has been my main support through out this wonderful, difficult, life changing challenge.

I can't wait to see everyone and share stories. :)

Hi everyone, so i went dress and shoe shopping tonight with my mother in-law (bless her soul)it was a good time and she was so helpful. I found a very stunning RED dress and black shoes. I also went to Ulta and got my color match done for makeup. They use bare minerals products and i've never used them b4 so it was fun. I'm so excited for Wednesday and nervous is anyone else? And my husband Brent is coming with me, is anyone else besides Molly bringing support with them? Does anyone know if we get to sit with out spouses or whom ever we bring? I'm not letting my husband see my my dress or shoes until he comes Wednesday.I am hoping to post my results and some pictures by sometime Thurdsday.I hope everyone has a great last day and see you all soon.

So I went ice fishing this weekend @ Lake of The Woods and pretty proud of myself as far as my eating I feel I did really well for the most part, although drinks might have made up for that, i usually don't drink very often. The fishing was pretty good also and lots of fun I find it very relaxing and well needed time away with no kids I'm very excited for tomorrow because I am going dress and shoe shopping with my mother in law, so wish me luck I find something that's always the hardest part. See everyone soon. I can't wait to catch up and share our stories and progress.

And yes i to am wearing a dress and also bringing a dress pants and shirt outfit with me. Take Care.

Final touches

Last night was my hair appointment with Erin, she is amazing and a talented lady. You can see she really enjoys her work. I can't thank her enough for taking the time to color all of our hair for us and style us on Wednesday. We are all going to look amazing on Wednesday!

Thank you to everyone for helping us be our best physically and mentally. Our lives have changed for the better because of this challenge. We have learned so much about our hearts and ways to keep it healthy through diet and exercise.

I went to the Ulta store tonight for my color match. Alli selected my color; she was very kind and sweet. I've never had my makeup put on professional before, so I’m looking forward to having it done. It's all very exciting. Maybe we will learn some new makeup techniques.

I'm so happy that I was able to get right back on track with my healthy eating after I got back from my vacation. I'm happy to report I'm down five pounds since Wednesday. Hooray! I’m happy it was just water weight and not from my trip.

I hope everyone has a good weekend and see you all on Wednesday.

I'm back from Jamaica

I just returned from one of the best vacations I've ever taken. My husband and I celebrated our 14th anniversary in the tropical region of Jamaica. The weather was in the upper 80-90s and rained every day in the morning, which didn't matter to us because it was still warm and refreshing. The ocean was so beautiful and we walked the beach every day for exercise.

It was extremely difficult to make healthy food choices as there is an unlimited amount of food to choose from. Imagine being at a buffet three times a day for seven days. Some days I had a salad and fruit for lunch, but unfortunately the salad dressing wasn't low fat. I tried star fruit for the first time, it kind of tasted like an apple but not as sweet. I also ate a purple fruit with a white center that our waitress said would stain, which turned out to be sweet with a soft mushy texture. I can't tell you the name of the fruit since most of the food wasn't labeled. We had jerk chicken, sausage, rice and beans from the jerk hut on the beach. It was very good but the portions were large and thankfully I didn't eat the skin.

During our stay, we ate twice at the buffet, twice at the Asian buffet my husband liked, spent our anniversary at a gourmet restaurant called Sir Richards, Japanese another night, and a Steak House that we really didn't care for. I waited in line every morning to make reservations to eat at one of the four restaurants, but by the time I got to the front the early seating was always full so we had to make reservations for 9:00 PM. Luckily after letting one of the hostesses know that our anniversary was on Monday, she kindly reserved a table for us ahead of schedule which I wouldn't have gotten otherwise, and she even refused my bribes. I experienced friendliness like this everywhere in Jamaica, even when we were outside of the resort.

We were at an all-inclusive resort so drinks were free. I liked the rum cream drinks because they weren't as strong as a mixed drink and tasted good while lying on the beach. I tried some other drinks I'd never tasted before, and some were good and some not so good.

I’m not trying to make you hungry while reading this so if you do snack please eat something healthy like a piece of fruit.

We took a chair-lift to the top of Mystic Mountain and went bobsledding through the rain forest. We went full throttle down the mountain, and had a blast! We took the Zip Line-Canopy tour next, something neither one of us had every done before. We felt safe since the harnesses were secured to the zip line with two cables. The view from the mountain was amazing. I hope we can take this trip again someday.

After we got back in the states my husband had training in Illinois for two days so we spent another three nights in hotels. Our friends had us over for dinner both nights and she's a wonderful cook, but like most Americans uses meat, potatoes, gravy, butter and pastas.

We got home late Tuesday night, and I was afraid to step on the scale to see how much weight I’d gained. I waited until the morning (you know what they say about weighing in the morning) and I was up 7 pounds. It doesn’t help that I’m pre-menses either. I immediately got back on track with my healthy eating plan, and when I weighed myself this morning I was down 2 pounds. I’m hoping that when my cycle comes I’ll be down even more.

It’s nice to go on vacation every now and then but there is no place like home, and I'm determined and re-energized to maintain a healthy lifestyle after taking some well needed relaxation, and a few minor indulgences.

Final Measurements/Tests and Weight In

Hello everyone,
So I go in for my final measurements/tests and weight. I am nervous and so excited to see how far I have come. I keep praying my good cholesterol is better and everything else is still good. I know I lost weight and inches I can tell by my clothes and the scale but it will be nice to know how many inches.

It has been a long 3 months and I have come a long way in health and lifestyle. This has changed my life. And I am going to keep passing on the information to whoever is interested.

Looking back I only took a lot of baby steps, baby steps in exercise, slowly getting better and better by pushing myself a little bit more and more each time. Baby steps in nutrition and eating healthier slowly replacing the junk for the non processed. If you think about it, it can be really easy! There is no reason to make it difficult. Just take baby steps and keep moving forward. But if you mess up, then admit it and move on. Everyone messes up, we are only human after all. The key to keep moving forward and taking baby steps is to not let it stress you out, don't stress out about how fast or slow you are taking the steps to getting healthier. Don't stress out if you fumble and make a mistake. Just keep doing what you can and you will get better however fast or slow you care to go.

After this wonderful life changing challenge is over then the real challenge begins. We have to keep moving forward more on our own. I for one will not except going back to what I was. I will keep the momentum and get even better. I hope everyone else feels the same way.

Now that we know each other we can continue to support one another in this. I am willing to get together every now and then if anyone is interested?

I can't wait to see everyone at the luncheon! I went shopping for something to wear and fell in love with this flirty black dress that looks good on me at JCPenny. I am worried though if I should wear it, might be to much for the event maybe...... I don't know. I was thinking new me and new clothes but I will wait and see. What is everyone else planning on wearing?

Finish Strong for the rest of our lives!
